Rhizobium rhizogenes strain LBA9402 was sequenced using a combination of Illumina and Nanopore reads. Strain LBA9402 is a rifampicin-resistant derivative of the wild-type strain NCPPB 1855.Rhizobium rhizogenes induces the plant disease hairy root in many plant species. Hairy roots grow fast and can easily be cultured in vitro and therefore hairy roots have been used for the industrial production of secondary metabolites of plants.
