China River and Lake Dataset (HydroLAKES v1.0)

HydroLAKES v1.0 is a digital map repository of global lakes, designed to provide comprehensive and consistent lake information at the global scale, covering all lakes with a surface area of at least 10 ha, including freshwater lakes, saline lakes (including the Caspian Sea), as well as human-made reservoirs and regulated lakes. The dataset has a total surface area of 2.67×10⁶km² (1.8% of global land area), a total shoreline length of 7.2×10⁶km (about four times longer than the world’s ocean coastline), and a total volume of 181.9×10³km³ (0.8% of total global non-frozen terrestrial water stocks). As lakes are key components of biogeochemical and ecological processes, this dataset can provide core data support for understanding lake properties and their interactions in the Earth system. The data is open access, and users can refer to alternative datasets such as ReaLSAT and GLOBathy.
