A Digital Archaeology of Early Hispanic Film Culture: Film Magazines and the Male Fan Reader

This sociologically-oriented project pertains to cinema fandom broadly, and early Spanish fan culture specifically. The repository contains the datasets based on the Spanish film magazine Popular Film, particularly its sections “Estafeta” (fan mail) and “¿Tengo condiciones de ser artista de cine?” (star-search reader contest “Do I have the conditions to be a film star?”). It also contains the code in Python and R for the quantitative analysis and visualizations of the data.
