We sequenced the mRNA of the Pere David's deer Elaphurus davidianus. RNA was extracted from a blood sample of a single adult deer, from Whipsnade Zoo, Zoological Society of London, UK. The library was prepared using a TruSeq mRNA library prep kit, and sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq platform. The reads were trimmed of adapter sequences using Trim Galore!
