The PIs collected high resolution CHIRP data in Lake Cresent by towing an Edgetech SB512i onboard a small catamaran behind a small boat. Located at the foot of the Olympic Mountains in western Washington, Lake Crescent is a deep glacially carved lake occupying portions of two steep-sided fault-controlled valleys. The lake dates to around14 ka, following retreat of the Juan de Fuca lobe of the Cordilleran ice sheet to the east. The depth of the lake is ~190 m deep. The goal of this project was to improve understanding of the terrestrial upland response to great subduction or other large earthquakes on the Cascadia margin of North America. Funded by NSF grant EAR-1226064.
