Modulating effects of microbiota on synbiotic intervention outcomes for microbiota-derived trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) and indoxyl sulphate (IS) in healthy young individuals

In the double-blind randomised controlled trial, we aimed to investigate the effecticacy of the multi-strain synbiotic formulation on bloodin lowering TMA, TMAO and IS concentration in a group of young, healthy individuals following a dietary challenge (Tang, 2013), which served as a source of choline and tryptophan. Additionally, we sought to determine whether microbiota-related characteristics could influence individual responses to this intervention.
