English Test Requirements by Healthcare Regulator: IELTS, OET and other English scores each UK, Irish and US regulator accepts

The English language scores that healthcare regulators in the UK, Ireland and the USA ask internationally trained professionals for. For each regulator and group of professions it shows, for every test, whether the test is accepted and the minimum score required overall and in each skill. It also records one-skill retakes, combining two sittings, how long results stay valid, and whether the result also counts for the UK Health and Care Worker visa. There are 209 regulator and test rows across 19 regulator rules, with 21 official source pages. Scores are held exactly as each regulator publishes them. Each rule carries the date it was checked and the date it took effect, where the regulator states one. Score scales differ by test: IELTS 0 to 9, OET 0 to 500 per sub-test, PTE Academic 10 to 90, Cambridge English Scale 80 to 230, MET 0 to 80, TOEFL iBT 0 to 30 per skill (0 to 120 total) before 21 January 2026 and 1 to 6 from that date. Where the caveat column is filled, part of the rule could not be read on the regulator's own page (some regulator sites block automated checks). Confirm those rules on the official page.
