VPRS 18160 Register of Inward Correspondence

This series consists of registers which provide information regarding all incoming correspondence received at Aradale Mental Hospital (VA 2841).The volumes record the following information:- Reference Number (annual sequential number)- Date Received- From Where Received- Date of Document- Nature of Document (Subject Matter)There are some gaps in the date sequence which would presumably be filled by additional registers that have not been located. The gaps cover the periods April 1900 to May 1903; June 1908 to April 1914; and September 1921 to June 1946.Each entry has been given an annual sequential number and the number sequence resets at the beginning of each calendar year.Volume 8 (1903 - 1908) has had magazine pictures pasted into the volume at a much later date, probably the 1950s or 1960s. These pictures have obscured approximately the first 250 entries (from January 1903 to May 1903).Entries in the last volume in the series stop about halfway through, and there is an entry stating it was superseded by loose leaf system from 16 September 1953.The whereabouts of the correspondence that these registers relate to is not known.
