Genetic Analysis of Bronze Age individual from Ulug-depe (Turkmenistan). PaleOxus1

Central Asia is inhabited by populations belonging to several ethnic groups speaking langages of Turco-Mongol and Indo-Iranian families. The origin of the later group can be traced back to the end of the Bronze Age, about 3500 years ago, through admixture between western steppe populations and the Oxus civilization inhabitants. Here, we present genome-wide data from a Middle Bronze Age individual coming from an Oxus site, Ulug-depe. This individual fits within the genetic variability found at other sites from the same archaeological complex, thus reinforcing the population homogeneity on a broad geographical scale.
