IASI Atmospheric Temperature Water Vapour and Surface Skin Temperature Error Estimate - Metop

The main objective of the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) is to provide high resolution atmospheric emission spectra to derive temperature and humidity profiles with high spectral and vertical resolution and accuracy. Additionally it is used for the determination of trace gases, as well as land and sea surface temperature, emissivity and cloud properties. The atmospheric Temperature and Water Vapour error (TWT_ERR) contains the full retrieval error estimate (error covariance matrix) for the atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles retrieved with the optimal estimation method (OEM). The products are provided at the single IASI footprint resolution (which is about 12 km with a spatial sampling of about 25 km at Nadir). This product is available via the Data Centre as the IASI Combined Sounding Products: EO:EUM:DAT:METOP:IASSND02. NOTE: From 15/10/2021, Metop-A IASI data are no longer available.
