Cultural History Main Structure: Historic vegetable gardens on estates (heritage line)

On this map you can see where in the Landgoedzone still vegetable gardens, or parts of these (such as garden walls or fruit walls and cold containers) are present. Many of the vegetable gardens on the outdoor sites are partly enclosed by fruit walls, against which leifruit grew extra well due to the warmth of the sun on the wall. Special is the large number of experimental fruit walls in the Landgoedzone, which were mostly built in the 18th century. We find straight garden walls in many more places and have been regularly laid out until much more recent date.
