资源简介:

Project Severe Weather Archive of the Philippines (SWAP) issues its 4th Data Release or SWAP DR4. It features the following: Improvements to the Geographic decimal coordinates (i.e. latitude-longitude pairs) for accuracy purposes, The number of severe weather events have increased to more 1600 cases/events/reports. The number of potential sources remains 5 sources for this major release, but with supplementary links/sources attached, Integration of proximity rawinsonde observations (RAOBs), in line with our previous commitment, SWAP DR4 now features most (if not all) proximity soundings associated with each event, analyzed using SounderPy of Gillett (2025). Several published researches in the field of severe convective storms, as listed in the METADATA. As indicated, this project can be important to uncovering the Philippine's thermodynamic and kinematic environment on various timescales, essentially creating a baseline climatology to further understand both convective processes and long term climate linkages. However, any analyses using this archive will require careful consideration of biases therein, many of which we have discussed in the journal article (as also described). Kindly see the attached table I created in this announcement for the versions of Project SWAP and other details. If you have comments, kindly use the SWAP Contact Form below.
