Monitoring database — Integrative monitoring of the large protected areas

The monitoring database allows nationwide monitoring, which takes into account and combines ecological, economic, social and socio-cultural parameters (42 indicators). Monitoring is currently being carried out in 13 national parks and 14 biosphere reserves. The aim is to ensure the quality of the German protected area system in the long term, to fulfil international and national reporting obligations and to create a uniform overview of the development of the unique habitats of the national natural landscapes.
