First case of IMP-15-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Switzerland

The first case of multiresistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa harbouring the metallo-beta-lactamase IMP-15 in Switzerland is presented. Its laboratory diagnosis was hampered due to a negative EDTA and temocillin carbapenemase screening test as well as a negative PCR result in the Xpert® Carba test. The diagnosis was raised by whole genome sequencing (WGS) which afterwards was confirmed by different phenotypic and genotypic analyses.
