Long-term cellulose enrichment selects for highly cellulolytic consortia and competition for public goods

16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, metagenomic sequencing, and metatranscriptomic sequencing of cellulose-enriched microbial communities from Atta colombica leaf-cutter ant refuse dumps. Data represent six independent enrichment lines inoculated from three refuse dumps over 60 transfers. Communities were grown in M63 minimal media with Whatman No. 1 cellulose filter paper as the sole source of carbon, and transferred only when the filter paper strip broke in half.
