Action Plan 2021-2023: Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Division Committee

Focus areas of this action plan include engaging in African Regional Sustainable Development Fora as a means of raising awareness and building alliances; supporting national engagement in Voluntary National Reviews and producing guidelines for libraries; organising side-events at the African Regional Internet Governance Forum (IGF); being represented at the global IGF and generally supporting the work around digital literacy for librarians in the region; holding a webinar on issues around the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); bringing together evidence from surveys that have taken place into responses to the pandemic, and on this basis exploring what lessons and recommendations can help for the future; looking at how to ensure that libraries are better included in literacy and reading strategies, based on the experiences of those which have successfully been involved; carrying out a range of actions, like webinars, focused both on identifying potential members and reaching out to them, and then demonstrating the value of being part of a global association; raising awareness of the Library Map of the World (LMW) among countries in the Sub-Saharan region which are currently not represented on the LMW, and then working with them to help them correct this.
