Middle meatus swabs were collected from participants' sinuses for 16S
rRNA gene sequencing (V3-V4 hypervariable region) on the Illumina MiSeq
platform. Thirteen centres, across five continents, participated in the
study. 532 samples (194 healthy controls and 338 chronic rhinosinusitis
patients) successfully went through all stages of transport and
processing to be sequenced.
