Bangladesh Crime Statistics : OCR-Processed and Structured Dataset from Official Police Reports

This dataset presents a comprehensive compilation of crime statistics across Bangladesh from January 2020 to September 2025, collected from the official Bangladesh Police website. As the original reports were published as scanned PDF documents, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology was applied to digitize and extract tabular data from these documents. The dataset was carefully cleaned, standardized, and merged to create a unified CSV file suitable for quantitative and comparative analysis. It includes data on major crime categories such as murder, robbery, dacoity, kidnapping, narcotics, smuggling, arms act cases, and violence against women and children, organized by police division and month. This structured dataset enables researchers, policymakers, and data scientists to conduct trend analysis, predictive modeling, and policy impact assessments related to crime and law enforcement efficiency in Bangladesh. All data were obtained from publicly available sources on the Bangladesh Police website and digitized for research and educational use.
