The data in this repository correspond to 12 coastal embayments along the coast of the state of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil: Itapocorói (Barra Velha, Piçarras, and Praia Alegre), Taquaras/Taquarinhas, Estaleiro, Mariscal, Ingleses, Barra da Lagoa/Moçambique, Armação, Garopaba, Rosa, Imbituba/Itapirubá, Itapirubá/Sol, and Galheta. This dataset is organized into three main components: wave data, tide data, and coastline data. The wave data were downscaled to a nearshore point located 267 m offshore (coordinates: 6,947,752.39 m S; 278,276.60 m E, WGS84 UTM Zone 23S) using the BinWaves hybrid wave modeling tool (Cagigal et al., 2024), providing coastal wave conditions for the study area. The wave records span the period from 1979 to 2023. Within the wave data folder, two key XML files are provided: (i) one containing summarized wave data for each beach, and (ii) another containing the geographical locations of the wave data points (WGS84 UTM Zone 22S). The tide data were obtained from the Coastal Dataset for the Evaluation of Climate Impact (CoDEC) database (Muis et al., 2020) and also cover the period from 1979 to 2023. These data are organized by beach, and include location maps indicating where the tidal data were extracted. The coastline data were derived using the Coastal Analyst System from Space Imagery Engine (CASSIE) tool (Almeida et al., 2021), representing shoreline positions along the Santa Catarina coast from 1984 to 2023. This section includes shoreline positions extracted annually, associated transects and baselines, and Hovmöller diagrams generated from the shoreline distance time series. Together, these datasets provide a comprehensive view of coastal dynamics over four decades, encompassing shoreline change, wave climate variability, and tidal conditions. The data structure and accompanying metadata are designed to facilitate reproducibility and reuse in coastal and geomorphological research.
