Mechanisms, Naturalism, and Progress in Consciousness Science

Many of the central questions in consciousness science remain hotly contested. This lack of consensus is not itself a cause for concern. But the lack of a clear methodology capable of delivering consensus is. This thesis draws on both the history and philosophy of science to chart a path toward consensus in consciousness science.
