Genomic resources for the scuttle fly Megaselia abdita: A Model Organism for Comparative Developmental Studies in Flies

To compare transcription profiles between different embryonic stages in M. abdita to the same stages in D. melanogaster, we performed RNAseq on single embryos from stages 1, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17 for both species. M. abdita stage 16 embryo sequencing failed and is not included. We staged embryos based on morphology, corresponding to established staging schemes for each species (Campos-Ortega & Hartenstein, 1997; Wotton et al., 2014). We also sequenced a 1st and 3rd instar larva and early stage (~24hrs) pupa of Megaselia abdita.
