资源简介:
We predict that people use space as metaphor to make sense of honor and that this has downstream consequences for choice and shapes perception and that the effects of this metaphor are not limited to people high in honor values. People in China (Study 1) and the U.S. (Studies 1-3) associate honor with up and right and dishonor with down and left, separately from how much they endorse honor values (Studies 2, 3) and the association of positive with up (Study 3). Turning to the U.S. President, the more Trump supporters value honor, the more they prefer Trump in the up-right versus the down-left quadrant of an image --the reverse holds for Trump non-supporters (Study 4). The more Americans rate Trump as honorable, the more they perceive of photographs of him as reinforcing that --they see the images as presenting him as facing up-right toward honor (Study 5).<br>
