Respect and Corruption

This dataset supports the research project exploring the relationship between societal respect and corruption across 155 countries from 2006 to 2019. It includes a wide range of economic, governance, and social variables, allowing for quantitative analysis of how perceived respect influences corruption levels, operationalized through Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index (CPI). The dataset features key independent and control variables such as average national responses to Gallup's respect metric, GDP per capita (PPP), unemployment rates, rule of law, government accountability, social and personal safety, and factionalism. It also includes derived composite indicators for governance quality and social stability, standardized on a 0–100 scale for cross-country comparability. The final panel is strongly balanced with clustered robust standard errors by country, suitable for both fixed and random effects modeling.
