The Profit of War — Companion Dataset and Source Verification Register

Companion dataset to The Profit of War: How the Military and Financial Industrial Complexes Turn Conflict into Income (John Shubin, manuscript, 2026). Contains (1) the book's claim-level source verification register — one row per factual claim, with source, locator, date, confidence rating, and verification status; (2) data tables and charts for all 25 figures embedded in the manuscript, each with a dated source line, plus a map linking every figure to its data; and (3) the 25 figures as published. Method: every factual claim in the book was tracked through the register under a verified-only rule; claims that failed verification were excluded. Sources follow a hierarchy — primary records first (SEC filings, STOCK Act disclosures via Senate eFD and the House Clerk, OMB Historical Tables, exchange closing data, CRS and GAO reports), dated journalism second; advocacy-produced figures are labeled as such and cross-checked against neutral sources where any exist. Figures concerning the 2026 Iran war are contemporary history, reported as of July 2026, and perishable; a revised version will be deposited at press time. See the README for full caveats.
