These are data from experiments in which the rapid cooling of a jet of glycerol/water upon striking the surface of a cold, rotating copper plate was monitored by recording movies of photoluminescence from thioflavin T (ThT) dye that was dissolved in the glycerol/water mixture. The data set includes emission spectra of ThT in glycerol/water at temperatures from 80 K to 300 K, showing the strong dependence of photoluminescence on temperature. The data set also includes segments of the movies that were analyzed to determine cooling rates and the dependence of the cooling rate on the copper surface velocity at the point where the glycerol/water jet strikes the surface.
