The heavy rain hazard map shows the spatial expansion of floods, the flooding depths and the flow speed of a flood in various heavy rain scenarios (rare, exceptional and extreme events). In Berlin, the heavy rain hazard map is carried out on the basis of a coupled 1D channel network and a 2D surface runoff model (1D/2D coupled model), taking into account current data from the topography, soil, buildings, sealing and sewer network in the calculation.
