Macaque Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Full-Length Genomic Sequences. Macaca mulatta

Variations in class I genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) can influence the outcomes of transplantation and infectious disease studies. Recent advances in single molecule real time sequencing technology with the Pacific Biosciences Sequel II platform allow highly accurate class I sequences to be generated from full-length genomic DNA amplicons. This project aims to define ~3kb genomic sequences containing complete coding sequences plus introns for macaque MHC genes. These genomic sequences will provide references that will improve the ability to phase class I sequence variants from short read Illumina datasets. The majority of the animals included in this BioProject are Indian-origin rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) but some rhesus macaques with hybrid geographic origins are included as well as cynomolgus macaques (Macaca fascicularis) from Mauritius and mainland southeast Asia.
