资源简介:
Eleven aboriginal sites were excavated to mitigate the date loss from the effects of construction in the Divide-Cut Section of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Site descriptions, field methods employed, and descriptions of material recovered were present. Two contrasting sets of sites based upon two physiographic variables were discussed. Assemblage-level comparisons were made between sites lying North or South of the Tennessee Valley Divide, and between sites located on bottoms or terraces. Results of these comparisons suggest that sites located North or South of the Divide were not significantly different, and sites located on terraces were not oriented more toward lithic tool production than are bottom sites. Temporal utilization, based upon projectile point typology, is shown for the ten sites which yielded projectile points.
