资源简介:
The Polar Oral History Program is administered by The American Polar
Society and The Ohio State University's Byrd Polar Research Center
Archival Program and funded by the National Science Foundation. The
purpose is to document the early years of American polar exploration
by interviewing those who were in the polar regions since the 1920s.
Ultimately, the goal is to preserve the heritage of American polar
exploration for future generations of researchers and scientists.
100 Interviews with scientists, military personnel and explorers were
conducted for this project, resulting in almost 300 hours in audio
tape documentation. Completed interviews are listed on the web site
at: "http://library.osu.edu/".
Brief abstracts of the interviews, written by the interviewer, are linked to
each name. Transcripts have been completed for most interviews and are
available by contacting the polar curator at kissel.4@osu.edu.
