珠穆朗玛峰位于中国与尼泊尔交界处的喜马拉雅山脉中段。研究区域自西侧的吉隆延伸至东侧的亚东,分布着数十座海拔七、八千米的高峰。中国境内及边界上的著名高峰包括康彭钦峰、希夏邦马峰、通泽峰、卓奥友峰、洛子峰和马卡鲁峰等。自第四纪以来,喜马拉雅山区以这些高峰为中心,经历了多次冰川作用,留下了丰富的冰川遗迹。这些遗迹为研究第四纪冰川演变、古气候状况以及新构造运动提供了宝贵的资料。本数据集来源于中国科学院西藏科学考察队第四纪地质地貌组的详细考察研究。该组在1966年至1968年间,分批连续进行了三次深入考察,主要记录了冰期的划分、冰川的分布与类型、古雪线的高程及其因新构造上升运动而产生的变化,并与邻区的冰期进行了对比。这些考察结果为该地区冰川问题的讨论提供了坚实的数据基础。本数据集是对前人考察研究成果的数字化整理,为相关领域的研究提供了重要的科学依据。
Mount Qomolangma is situated in the central segment of the Himalayas at the China-Nepal border. The study area stretches from Gyirong in the west to Yadong in the east, where dozens of peaks with elevations ranging from 7,000 to 8,000 meters are distributed. Famous peaks within and along China's border include Kangpenqing Peak, Shishapangma Peak, Tongze Peak, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu, among others. Since the Quaternary Period, the Himalayan region, centered on these high peaks, has experienced multiple glaciations, leaving abundant glacial relics. These relics offer valuable data for research on Quaternary glacial evolution, paleoclimatic conditions, and neotectonic movements. This dataset originates from the detailed investigation and research carried out by the Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology Group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Tibet Scientific Expedition Team. Between 1966 and 1968, the group conducted three consecutive in-depth expeditions in batches, mainly documenting the division of glacial stages, the distribution and types of glaciers, the elevation of the ancient snow line and its changes caused by neotectonic uplift, as well as making comparisons with glacial stages in adjacent regions. These expedition outcomes have established a solid data foundation for discussions on glacial-related issues in this region. This dataset is a digital collation of prior investigation and research results, providing an important scientific basis for studies in relevant fields.
