Discription of the sampling sites and distribution of surface and subsurface organic carbon contents, moisture content, pH, and mineral compositions (quartz, hornblende, albite, orthoclase, illite, chlorite, calcite, dolomite, halite and gypsum) across the Qaidam Basin are presented. Also, soil organic carbon contents from other hyperarid deserts including the Atacama and Antarctic deserts are also summarized in the dataset.
