Protected building heritage (Building Heritage Register)

The building heritage material produced by the National Board of Antiquities includes the sites protected by Regulation 480/85, the Church Act (1054/1993), the Act on Orthodox Church (985/2006) and the so-called Railway Convention (1998). Of the sites protected by the Orthodox Church Act and the Act, only church buildings built before 1917 are included, not any other buildings such as fighting or burial chaplains. Different information products have been created from the material. The National Board of Antiquities’s website does not include objects that are protected by the Act on the Protection of Building Heritage (or by the Old Building Protection Act) because the maintenance of the conservation information in question is a matter for the environmental administration. However, these items are included in the wms interface made from the material (and, for example, in the location information window). The material does not include protected buildings or areas in the plans. The organisation responsible for churches protected by the Church Act is the Church Government. The organisation responsible for the churches protected by the Act on the Orthodox Church is the Church Government. The buildings are located as points, potential protected areas as polygons. Three data products of different sizes (Inspire, designer’s material and researcher’s material) have been compiled from the datasets.
