The topographic map of the canton of Solothurn of Urs Josef Walker (1800-1855) from Solothurn. In 1828 Walker was commissioned by the government of the canton of Solothurn to create a map of the canton of Solothurn. He was able to rely in part on existing triangulation measurements by Johann Baptist Altermatt and Antoine-Joseph Buchwalder. The large-format, 94 x 80 cm monochrome map in scale 1:60 000 appeared in 1832 and partly served as the basis for the topographic map of Switzerland (“Dufourmap”) 1:100 000.
