Lens culinaris cultivar:Cassab Raw sequence reads

A comprehensive unigene reference transcriptome was developed for the lentil cultivar Cassab, a high yielding and high quality red lentil which was extensively used in lentil breeding programs until recently. Sequence reads from multiple cDNA libraries were combined and de novo assembled, followed by comparison to the genic complements of related species, sequence annotation and assessment of tissue-specific expression. The resulting unigene set will provide a resource for the development of tools for molecular breeding of lentil, as well as annotation of the current and future reference genome sequence.
