Research data - Intra muros et extra (IMEE): Funerary landscapes and settlement dynamics at Monte Sannace and Vaste in the fourth century BCE

This dataset provides the research data for the book chapter "Intra muros et extra: Funerary landscapes and settlement dynamics at Monte Sannace and Vaste in the fourth century BCE," a study of funerary landscapes and settlement dynamics of the fourth and thrid century BCE in today's southeastern Italy. It consolidates 379 funerary features from the settlements Monte Sannace and Vaste as well as their surroundings as spatially referenced point and attribute data. Contents IMEE_dataset.csv: primary analytical table with one row per individual or clustered funerary feature. IMEE_dataset.kml: derivative KML file for quick spatial visualisation in GIS or virtual globe software. IMEE_data_dictionary.csv: field-level documentation for the primary table. IMEE_value_dictionary.csv: controlled-value explanations and the missing-value convention. IMEE_coordinate_reference_systems.csv: CRS metadata for all coordinate columns in the primary table. IMEE_references.bib: bibliographic references in BibTeX format. IMEE_references_readable.csv and IMEE_references_readable.txt: human-readable reference lists. Data conventions ID is the stable unique identifier across the dataset. All missing, unknown or not applicable tabular values are encoded as the literal string NULL. Categorical values such as not documented are retained where they carry interpretive meaning and should not be treated as missing values. Chronological information is provided through numeric BCE date-range fields (Date_start_BCE, Date_end_BCE) and broader phase codes (Date_phase). Burial and tomb counts are minimum-count fields; uncertainty and qualitative information are retained in qualifier and note fields. Recommended use Use IMEE_dataset.csv as the authoritative table for analysis. Use IMEE_dataset.kml as a convenience derivative for visual inspection and exploratory mapping. Consult IMEE_data_dictionary.csv, IMEE_value_dictionary.csv and IMEE_coordinate_reference_systems.csv before filtering, aggregating or reusing the dataset.
