Solomon Sea volume transport time-series measured by glider

The Solomon Sea carries the equatorward western boundary current of the South Pacific, a principal element of subtropical-equatorial communication. The Solomon Sea transport time-series is derived from the over a decade long and ongoing record of Spray glider missions in the Solomon Sea.The transport for each section is computed as the coast-to-coast integral of the absolute cross-track geostrophic velocity, obtained from the glider-measured temperature, salinity, and vertically-averaged velocity. A low-pass monthly time-series represents a smoothed version of the individual section transport series capturing its low-frequency variability, strongly correlated with ENSO.
