VPRS 7774 Crown Solicitor's Opinion Books

This series was used to record the opinions of the Crown Solicitor on matters referred by the Department of Industrial and Reformatory Schools and succeeding agencies. Opinions were sought on matters such as the interpretation of regulations and sections of legislation; the ramifications of maintenance and adoption orders and advice on specific maintenance and adoption cases.Each opinion is prefaced by a brief summary of the matter in question written in red ink. Some opinions also contain the inward correspondence number of the original letter of which these opinions are copies, as received by the Chief Secretary's Department and found in either VPRS 3911 or VPRS 3992. Mandate numbers quoted after opinions regarding adoption cases refer to entries found in VPRS 4527 Ward Registers.
