Torix Rickettsia: the aspects of diversity, host range and symbiont-host interaction.. Torix group Rickettsia in invertebrates

Torix Rickettsia is an alpha-proteobacterium that has been reported as endosymbiont of many invertebrate species. In this study we compare the infection prevalence of torix Rickettsia between freshwater and terrestrial invertebrate species using PCR assays. The results indicate that torix Rickettsia is likely common association with freshwater invertebrates. The most prevalence belongs to insects in order Diptera. The presence of the symbiont is also observed in terrestrial invertebrates, e.g., many spider species and the common bedbug (Cimex lectularius).
