This dataset, named Integrated Dataset for Air Travel and Zika Virus Cases, was created by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It contains air travel volume and reported Zika virus case counts within the catchment areas of 205 airports in Colombia, spanning from October 2015 to September 2016. The dataset encompasses a total of 35,131,561 passengers, including 23,539,364 domestic flight passengers and 11,592,197 international flight passengers. During its development, researchers geocoded airport codes, used Voronoi tessellation to determine airport catchment areas, and combined administrative municipal boundaries with Zika virus case data. This dataset is utilized to study the role of human mobility in the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases, as well as real-world network-based transmission models of infectious diseases.
