The strategic noise maps, in accordance with European Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June 2002, allow for the overall assessment of exposure to noise in the environment. They allow a representation of noise levels, but also to enumerate the exposed population, quantify the nuisances, and then draw up action plans. The type “b” map represents the noise-affected sectors as designated by the noise classification of land transport infrastructure: — for the motorway, national, departmental and municipal road network of the department of Indre-et-Loire whose annual traffic is more than 3 million vehicles. — for the railway network of the department of Indre-et-Loire whose annual traffic exceeds 30,000 train crossings.
