Climate extreme events such as marine heatwaves (MHWs) are increasingly threatening biodiversity (especially benthic organisms) and ecosystems due to their negative consequences, therefore there is an increasing need to test effective mitigation strategies against these extreme events. Thermal priming could be one solution. In this project we aimed to study the molecular responses of primed and naive (i.e. non primed) clams after exposure to marine heatwaves to reveal acclamatory changes triggered following priming.
