Dataset unloading service: Monitoring Coastal Marine Environment

The cartography shows the network for monitoring marine-coastal water bodies, provided for by Legislative Decree 152/2006. The points are indicatively located between the distance from the coast of 100 meters and the isobath of 50 meters. Various parameters belonging to different environmental matrices are periodically analysed: water, plankton, sediments, bioaccumulation on organisms, benthic biocenosis. According to the results, marine water bodies are classified periodically according to the classes provided by the Water Directive of the European Union. These controls do not concern the quality of bathing water which are monitored under another legislation through a specific monitoring network.
