Fluorescence and Raman spectra of urine samples from control and bladder tumour patients

The dataset consists of pre-processed, UV-excited (378 nm excitation wavelength) fluorescence, VIS-excited (445 nm excitation wavelength) fluorescence and Raman (785 nm excitation wavelength) spectra recorded from the urine samples of 285 patients of the urology department of the Careggi Hospital (Florence, Italy). 120 patients were diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma (tumour group, "TUM"), while the remaining 165 showed no evidence of oncological disease (control group, "CTR"). Each spectrum is saved into a .txt file containing 2 columns: on the left, the wavelength (for fluorescence) / wavenumber (for Raman); on the right, the corresponding light intensity. The intensity of each spectrum has been normalized by its total integrated area and then scaled by a specific numerical factor for each spectroscopic technique: the intregrated area of UV-excited fluorescence, VIS-excited fluorescence and Raman spectra has been fixed at 500, 350 and 100 a.u., respectrively. Finally, a multimodal spectrum ("MULTI") is generated by concatenating Raman, UV-excited and VIS-excited fluorescence spectra into a single feature vector for each sample. CTR and TUM spectra are divided into different folders per spectral technique.
