International Forums (APEC, ASEAN, the African Union and G20) Policy Documents Dataset on Artificial Intelligence (2015-2024)

The dataset contains 327 policy documents and press releases on AI governance from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the African Union (AU), and the Group of 20 (G20). The data was collected as part of the AI & Geopolitics Project research project framework. The primary purpose of this data collection is to conduct a thematic analysis to identify the leading international political narratives about Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and how these narratives evolve over time. In order to map the current international narrative landscape on AI policy, we collected text data from APEC, ASEAN, AU, and G20 policy documents and press releases on AI governance and carried out a supported (using Large Language Model (LLM) for initial coding) Thematic Analysis.
