Genetic basis for T cell recognition of a major histocompatibility complex class II-restricted neo-self peptide.

This is an analogue of the major I-Ed-restricted CD4+ T cell determinant recognized by BALB/c mice in response to influenza A virus PR8 HA; the arg (R) at position 113 is substituted with lys (K). This epitope is similar to the one occurring in HA from A/Swine/31 (SW) strain of influenza virus as well, but with a E to T substitution at position 120. In the manuscript, little information regarding the assay was mentioned other than that it measured the ability of the T-cell hybridoma to secrete IL-3 in response to the source species or the epitope (GST-fused or as a synthetic peptide). Apart from S598-20, other hybridomas that gave similar results: S22-427, S532-28, S106-1, S518-6, S322-507, S630-62, S518-7, S238-17, S324-228, S518-12, S102-26, S532-8, S518-5 and S101-1.
