KAW001 - Kawe Maˈya - Basic words (landscape, plants, animals)

This dataset contains elicited basic vocabulary from the Kawe dialect of Maˈya with Yulius Ayello (born 1978), a native speaker of Kawe Maˈya. The words cover the semantic domains of landscape, plants, and animals (corresponding to the items in black ink on pages 16-26 in the Fieldnotes); all words were recorded in isolation, utterance-final, and utterance-medial context. The conversation was recorded on 28 February 2023, in Waisai (Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). The recording of this session is split over two audio files, KAW001-01.wav and KAW001-02.wav. This dataset relates to the Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian'.
