Anaerobic co-digestion of brewery by-products for bioenergy recovery: operational performance, kinetic analysis, and microbial population dynamics

The brewing industry is one of the largest consumers of water in the world, generating large volumes of sewage as well as solid waste from the process. Several technologies have been used in the reuse of these residues for the production of bioenergy. In this context, the use of anaerobic digestion (AD) in the degradation of these compounds allows the production of biogas and energy generation from CH4 as well as the use of digestate as fertilizer in agriculture.
