资源简介:
The cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) is a small New World monkey weighing less than 0.5 kg (1.1 lb). One of the smallest primates, it is easily recognized by the long, white sagittal crest extending from its forehead to its shoulders. This species displays a wide variety of social behaviors and has been extensively studied for their high level of cooperative care, as well as altruistic and spiteful behaviors. It is currently classified as critically endangered (from Wikipedia entry). This sample was collected from a male individual at the Bronx Zoo in New York City. The sample was coordinated by the Wildlife Conservation Society and supported by Google to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
