Replication data for: Written as 'he': Colonial inheritance, constitutional language, and women's representation in Anglophone Africa
收藏资源简介:
Replication file for a systematic census of gendered pronouns in eight Anglophone African constitutions (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda). Contains the counting script (Python), complete pronoun counts with per-pronoun breakdowns for the eight current constitutions, two repealed constitutions (Kenya; The Gambia 1970 as amended to 1987), and the Kiswahili harmonized draft constitution of Kenya (2009), plus provision-level masculine-token densities for the four masculine-default texts. Constitutional texts analysed are the English-language versions distributed by the Constitute Project. Representation figures are the Inter-Parliamentary Union series as published in the World Bank’s World Development Indicators (SG.GEN.PARL.ZS). A README documents contents, sources, and how to reproduce the counts.
