资源简介:

This dataset contains simulation data, processed hydrodynamic coefficient data, and post-processing scripts corresponding to the numerical study presented in the paper entitled: "Orientation-dependent drag, lift, and torque correlations for regular Platonic polyhedral particles" Authors: Manuel A. Taborda and Berend van Wachem The dataset contains particle-resolved direct numerical simulation (PR-DNS) data for flow past three of the five Platonic solids at different particle Reynolds numbers and particle orientations. The simulations are used to investigate the drag force, lift force, and hydrodynamic torque acting on octahedral, dodecahedral, and icosahedral particles and to develop the orientation-dependent correlations presented in the paper. DATASET STRUCTUREThe simulation data contained in this part correspond to three of the five Platonic solids: - Octahedron - Dodecahedron - Icosahedron The individual PR-DNS simulation cases are stored in the directory: simulation_outputData/ Within simulation_outputData/, each simulation is stored in a separate directory corresponding to a specific particle shape, particle Reynolds number, and particle orientation. Each individual simulation directory contains the following subdirectories and files: - Fields : Fluid field data (HDF5), including quantities such as velocity and pressure - Meshes : Computational mesh files (HDF5) - results.xmf : XDMF descriptor that links the mesh and field HDF5 files and can be opened directly in ParaView or VisIt for visualisation These files contain the flow-field information obtained from the PR-DNS and can be used for further analysis and visualization of the flow around the particles. SIMULATION DIRECTORY NAMING CONVENTIONThe individual simulation directories located under simulation_outputData/ follow the naming convention: [shape]_Re[Reynolds-number]_[orientation]deg For example: simulation_outputData/dode_Re0-1_0deg/ corresponds to a dodecahedral particle simulated at a particle Reynolds number of 0.1 and an orientation angle of 0 degrees. The components of the directory name are: - [shape]: Platonic particle shape. In this part of the dataset, "octa" denotes the octahedron, "dode" denotes the dodecahedron, and "ico" denotes the icosahedron. - Re[Reynolds-number]: Particle Reynolds number, Re_p. A hyphen is used instead of the decimal point for non-integer Reynolds numbers; for example, "Re0-1" corresponds to Re_p = 0.1 and "Re0-5" corresponds to Re_p = 0.5. - [orientation]deg: Particle orientation angle in degrees relative to the reference orientation defined in the paper. For example, "0deg", "30deg", and "90deg" correspond to orientation angles of 0, 30, and 90 degrees, respectively. Examples of simulation directories are: - simulation_outputData/octa_Re0-1_0deg/ : Octahedron, Re_p = 0.1, orientation angle = 0 degrees - simulation_outputData/octa_Re10_90deg/ : Octahedron, Re_p = 10, orientation angle = 90 degrees - simulation_outputData/dode_Re1_30deg/ : Dodecahedron, Re_p = 1, orientation angle = 30 degrees - simulation_outputData/dode_Re100_90deg/ : Dodecahedron, Re_p = 100, orientation angle = 90 degrees - simulation_outputData/ico_Re1_30deg/ : Icosahedron, Re_p = 1, orientation angle = 30 degrees - simulation_outputData/ico_Re100_150deg/ : Icosahedron, Re_p = 100, orientation angle = 150 degrees SOURCE DATA FILESProcessed data files containing the hydrodynamic coefficients obtained from the PR-DNS are provided as input for the correlation and post-processing scripts. The following files contain the drag, lift, and torque coefficients for the different Platonic solids, particle Reynolds numbers, and orientations: - Fx_coeffResults.csv : Drag coefficient data obtained from the PR-DNS - Fz_coeffResults.csv : Lift coefficient data obtained from the PR-DNS - Ty_coeffResults.csv : Torque coefficient data obtained from the PR-DNS These files constitute the source data used by the corresponding Python scripts to evaluate the proposed orientation-dependent correlations and reproduce the drag, lift, and torque figures presented in the paper. POST-PROCESSING AND CORRELATION SCRIPTSPython scripts are provided to evaluate the drag, lift, and torque correlations and reproduce the corresponding figures presented in the paper. For each Platonic solid included in this part of the dataset, three scripts are provided: - OctaDragCorrelation.py - OctaLiftCorrelation.py - OctaTorqueCorrelation.py - DodeDragCorrelation.py - DodeLiftCorrelation.py - DodeTorqueCorrelation.py - IcoDragCorrelation.py - IcoLiftCorrelation.py - IcoTorqueCorrelation.py The drag correlation scripts use the PR-DNS data contained in Fx_coeffResults.csv. The lift correlation scripts use the PR-DNS data contained in Fz_coeffResults.csv. The torque correlation scripts use the PR-DNS data contained in Ty_coeffResults.csv. These scripts evaluate the corresponding orientation-dependent correlations and reproduce the figures presented in the paper. SIMULATION DATAThe simulation_outputData/ directory contains the individual PR-DNS simulation cases. Each case contains the flow-field information required to reproduce and further analyse the numerical results. The main stored quantities include: - Fluid velocity fields - Pressure fields - Computational mesh information - Simulation and domain metadata The simulations cover the particle Reynolds numbers and particle orientations presented in the paper. The resulting drag, lift, and torque coefficients are collected in Fx_coeffResults.csv, Fz_coeffResults.csv, and Ty_coeffResults.csv, respectively, and form the database used to evaluate the proposed orientation- dependent correlations.
